  1. Development for the Poor - Development for the poor is what we offer the donor. Development for the poor is a process we undertake which uses proven interventions such as providing wells, to improve the poor's standard of living. The process we use to develop the poor involves using a set of prioritized interventions, listed here
  2. Project Report - Project reports are a set of reports on projects we undertake including details  where  money is spent, including a cost breakdown, details of what interventions are used, how much they each cost, and explanations of how each intervention helps the poor and why it is cost effective. This helps provide you with the information you need to decide whether your donation would be well spent. You can see our current project report here.
  3. Cost Effective Solutions - It can be difficult to measure the effectiveness of different solutions as for one their effectiveness may change in different circumstances, and so difficult to work out the cost effectiveness, however, we have done a fairly complex evaluation of cost effectiveness based on estimates which compensates for the interdependent affects of different solutions and have arrived at a prioritized list of most cost effective solutions which you can see here. We therefore have made an effort to evaluate cost effectiveness which should give us a better idea of what should be done.
  4. Proven solutions - Proven solutions are solutions which have been proven to improve standard of living in the past, such as providing nutritious school meals to school going children, which as well as increasing nutrition has increased attendance rates significantly in a variety of settings. This ensures that the solutions have better chances of success because they have been tested repeatedly. The main proven solutions we use to develop are listed here
  5. Comprehensively evaluated solution Prioritization - We have taken time to estimate exactly how various interventions and their relationships affect the standard of living of the poor. And so have been able to arrive at a comprehensive evaluation of what interventions are most effective and should be prioritized. The results of this can be found here. The idea of this is that we are able to have more effect with less money.
  6. Practical, hands-on solutions -  Examples include providing water sources, such as bore holes, sanitation such as latrines, nutrition through school meals and micronutrient supplements. See a full list here.
  7. Community Level Solutions - Community level solutions are solutions we implement on a community level, meaning that the solutions we implement are tailored to individual communities. This gives solutions a better chance of working as they are closer to the needs and wants of the people.
  8. Community Involvement - This is done by involving the communities in decision making. It motivates communities to make projects a success, and bonds them with the projects. It also helps them tailor the project to suit their needs. Communities are involved in deciding which interventions to use, and how to source them cheaply and implement them.
